So last night, I was trying to go to sleep early so that I could get plenty of rest. Well I keep tossing and turning but I couldn’t get to sleep. So I decided to get up and go to my computer since my brain kept saying..Wakeup! I felt as though God was tapping on my shoulder, trying to wake me up.

Grudgingly, I went to my computer and decided to listen to scripture as I work on the computer (I use www.studylight.org). I felt that God wanted me to read/listen to Philippians 4. So as I’m reading/listening to it, I get an email from a client that their website is down & they needed my help. Well I checked things out and it turns out that their server is having problems.

I felt this was a God moment because I was awaken just before I got the email, I was on my computer when I would have been asleep, and Philippians 4 talks about having the peace of God regardless of what’s going on around you.

Well I put my client at peace and told them that I make it a priority to fix their problem as soon as everything was in place on their end. So what did I learn from this God moment? When I feel the tap on my shoulder trying to get my attention, I should…Wakeup! and listen.

Philippians 4:6-7, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus,” (NLB).

Be blessed and experience the peace of God today!

Experiencing betrayal is a hard thing to do especially if it is someone you have put your trust in. As someone who works virtually from my home, I have found that placing trust in clients is something that I have to be willing to do. Yet I have to admit that some of my clients have betrayed me by either not paying me or after all my hard work, switching to another designer who takes credit for all my hard work.

Living through these types of betrays have been hard but compared to what Jesus had to deal with, I count it as small change. You see, He had to deal with Judas betraying Him in way that lead to Him dying on the cross. Now that’s betrayal! Yet Jesus still loved Judas just as much as the rest of His disciples even though He knew what Judas was going to do.

If you found yourself in the same situation, what would you do? Would you still love the person who would betray you and continue trying to act as though that person didn’t betray you? Or would you get offended and treat them as though they were invisible and get angry at them? I have to admit that I have not been perfect in this area and that I’ve taken offense. The only way that I’ve found that I can get past the offense is to turn it over to God and allow Him to heal me from the offense and to grow me through it.

Checkout Proverbs 12:19-22, “Truthful lips shall be established forever, but a lying tongue is [credited] but for a moment. Deceit is in the hearts of those who devise evil, but for the counselors of peace there is joy. No [actual] evil, misfortune, or calamity shall come upon the righteous, but the wicked shall be filled with evil, misfortune, and calamity. Lying lips are extremely disgusting and hateful to the Lord, but they who deal faithfully are His delightoffice furniture in Bulgaria” (NLB).

How have you handled betrayal? Please share your experiences.

When I make the Lord my Shepherd,
He leaves nothing more to want.

He leads me out of my wilderness
To a place where I can feed and rest.

He calms the storms within
And heals my wounded heart.

When choosing to follow His instruction,
I stop trying to sit on His throne.

Then, I can walk through the storm
Knowing evil can’t touch me.

His presence becomes so real
All else is barely noticed.

He directs my every step
So all landmines are missed.

His Spirit swells up within me,
My heart overflows with joy …

And the love of God
Begins to exude through me.

It is then that I truly
Dwell in the Lord’s House.

And now, I can’t imagine having
Chosen to live any other way.

Dear brothers and sisters, whenever trouble comes your way, let it be an opportunity for joy. For when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be strong in character and ready for anything. (James 1:3-4, NLT)

Dealing with trouble or trials is something that Christians will face yet with each trial, we have an opportunity to have joy. Joy, in itself, can turn a bad day into a good day. It can help us to get through see the sun shining through the clouds on a gloomy day.

Recently, I was faced with a decision regarding my business which would mean that I could either continue as is and not see growth in my business. Or I could make a change that may cause me to face trials of growth pains. In the end, I made the decision to make a change and I’m so glad that I did because through the trials I have come out with joy and blessings.

I know that it is not easy to face trials yet as the scripture above says, “whenever trouble comes your way, let it be an opportunity for joy”. Smile, God loves you and will see you through your trials!

Your Friend,

You know that lately I’ve been wondering what dating is defined as now a days. You have dating that you can do in person when you meet someone locally. Then you have online dating that has websites like eHarmony or ChristianCafe that helps you to connect with others via the internet. Another way is long distance dating with someone that you met locally who then moved away.

Whichever way that you use to define dating, one must admit that dating has changed over the last twenty years. As a matter of fact, I can remember when it was part of the dating process for your date to meet the parents (regardless if you were female or male). No I’m not talking about back in the 50′s or 60′s, I’m talking about just in the 80′s.

Now, the parents are lucky if they are invited to the wedding (if one happens). Where are we headed as a nation in regards to dating and the Christian environment. We are suppose to be “peculiar”, “set apart”, or even “adopted into the kingdom” when it comes to our dating habits. Can it be that we have tried to assimilate the world into our environment to make it more comfortable for non-Christians that we have lost our flavor?

I want to hear what you have to say about this subject so please feel free to share your opinion by leaving a comment.

As you travel through life, the journey that you are taking may be hard at times. You might feel like you are in a boat that’s being tossed about by high waves. Or you might feel that no one is listening to you. Don’t give up hope! Just turn to God because He is your source of contentment and your breathe of life. I’ve been on a journey through the book of Joshua and God has opened my eyes to see things as I read from Joshua that I hadn’t noticed before. I want to share such a passage of scripture with you.

When the people set out to cross the Jordan, the priests who were carrying the Ark of the Covenant went ahead of them. Now it was the harvest season, and the Jordan was overflowing its banks. But as soon as the feet of the priests who were carrying the Ark touched the water at the river’s edge, the water began piling up at a town upstream called Adam, which is near Zarethan. And the water below that point flowed on to the Dead Sea until the riverbed was dry. Then all the people crossed over near the city of Jericho. Meanwhile, the priests who were carrying the Ark of the LORD‘s covenant stood on dry ground in the middle of the riverbed as the people passed by them. They waited there until everyone had crossed the Jordan on dry ground. (Joshua 3:14-17, NLT)

Have you ever wondered why the people crossed over the Jordan on dry grow near Jericho? Seeing that Jericho was the first obstacle that they had to face once they crossed into the Promised Land, it seemed strange to me when I noticed this part of the verse. But when I thought more on it, I realized that when we face a trial in our life that God won’t take us around it or move us far away from it but that he will allow us to come face to face with it. The thing about facing our trials is that God will prepare a way for us to conquer the trials. All we have to do is obey His directions that He gives to us regardless of how strange they may seem. So keep in mind that you are a mighty woman or man of valor and that God wants to bless you to take your journey to a new level.

You sister in Christ,
Kim

Have you ever felt that you were bugging God when you continuously pray about the some of the same issues that you may face? Well, I know that there are times when I bring something before God but then I may forget to leave it with Him and then I will take it to Him again. In these instances, I feel like I’m saying, “It’s Me Lord, Again!”

But God doesn’t look at it like that. He hears our prayers and challenges us to build our faith in Him. As we pray, we must remember that leaving it in God’s hands is the best place to put our issues or problems. I like how the Message Bible states, Philippians 4:6-7,

Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.

So I challenge you to not worry about those issue or problems that you may face. Leave them in God’s hands and be assured that it is taken care of by God!

You sister in Christ,
